2nd Chair

Our tuba player is headed to a state music festival next month.

A month or so ago, Jacob's band teacher asked him to try out for a festival band, specific to
middle-schoolers.  The band is made up of musicians from all over our state.
Auditions were this past Saturday for our district bands.
Jacob was a little nervous, especially when he found out that he had rec'd the wrong music for his audition.  No big deal...it can happen.

But...it didn't matter!  He auditioned beautifully (we were listening with our ear to the door), knew his scales, and...get this...
he's 2nd chair in the state!!!!!

He is so excited right now, and we're very proud of him.
We would have been proud of him even if he hadn't made the band at all, but
what a great reward for his hard work, and the dedicated teacher that he has.
Who knows?  Maybe a career with the tuba might just happen, or at least that college scholarship he's hoping for (along with mom & dad)!

Now he's even more motivated to practice for solo and ensemble coming up in a few months. He's working on a tuba duet with his buddy, and contemplating a solo, too.
Love his passion!

You know, tuba is recommended for college scholarships :-)
Supposedly they always want two tubas, one at each end!
