So, we have approximately 163 million orphans in the world per the latest data from the government. Obviously, there's no way that we can curb that number much as individuals. That number is growing faster than the government can process I800s! I think this has been a key reason that so many churches are now forming Orphan Care Ministries...to serve children domestically as well as internationally.
But how do you start one? How do you find the church's vision for this...or does it start with an individual that has a passion for the orphans? What if you don't attend a massive church? What if your church is struggling at times just to "make ends meet?" Can that church still serve the orphans?
I'd love to hear comments about this. Maybe your church has an Orphan Care Ministry. Perhaps they participated in Adoption Awareness Month this past November. What has been the fruit?

We have not used them yet, but Show Hope and Focus on the Family have come up with amazing resources to start a church orphan ministry. They have done all the work and made it available to churches. They tell you EXACTLY how to start a ministry.
